California State Authorizations

The California College of Natural Medicine operates under an "approval to operate" and "authorization to offer registered courses" by the State of California Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education.

Since The Bureau reached its Sunset June 30, 2007; CCNM has agreed to and signed a voluntary agreement to comply with all of the following: state statues, rules, and regulations pertaining to a private postsecondary institution or pertaining to a non-WASC regionally accredited institution as defined in Section 94740.5 of the Education Code, as it existed on June 30, 2007, in effect as of the close of business on June 30, 2007.  This is for the purpose of ensuring continued student protection after Chapter 7 of Part 59 of Division 10 of Title 3 of the Education Code became inoperative.

Approved Programs

Our vocational residential trainings include the Holistic Health Practitioner Training and our Naturopathic Practitioner Training. These educational programs are approved under CEC Section 94915.  "Approval" or "approval to operate" means that the council has determined and certified that an institution meets minimum standards established by the council for integrity, financial stability, and educational quality, including the offering of bona fide instruction by qualified faculty and the appropriate assessment of students' achievement prior to, during, and at the end of its program.

Registered Authorization to offer Continuing Education Programs and Short-Term Career Training Courses.

We are registered with the State of California. Registration means we have met certain minimum standards imposed by the state for registered schools based on our written application to the state. Registration does not mean we have met all of the more extensive standards required by the state for schools that are approved to operate or licensed or that the state has verified the information we submitted with our registration form

Our continuing education courses are either authorized by the Bureau for Private Post- Secondary and Vocational Education or meet certain minimum state educational standards recognized by a professional licensing body, such as those recognized by a professional licensing body required by Chiropractors, Acupuncturists and Registered Nurses.  A continuing education course is described as an educational service or program offered in any of the following circumstances:

  • Only in subjects licensees are required to take, as a condition to continue licensure, and solely for that purpose.
  • Only in subjects necessary to continue to practice or work in an occupation or profession such as law or medicine, and that are offered solely for that purpose.

o        To persons who are already in a particular profession, trade, or job category for the sole purpose of enhancing their skills or knowledge within that particular profession, trade, or job category.
